The Binding of Isaac |
But anyway, this week's indie game is The Binding of Isaac. This top-down 2D dungeon-crawler indie adventure is based on the Biblical story of the same name. But in case you never read the story (or in fact, the Bible), then this game would give you some ideas on what it's all about.

Each level ends with a boss fight. |
As you can expect, you control a boy, a little boy actually (naked, even.. poor thing), as he explores the randomly-generated dungeons located in his house's basement. Why there happens to be dungeons in the basement is not yet clear. The main point is to survive each level. Isaac the little boy can shoot tears to fight monsters (weird). There are various power-ups to be collected or bought from shops. Why there are shops in the dungeons is also not yet clear.
So, if you're interested to play a game about a naked, crying little boy trapped in dungeons full of feces, bloated monstrous infants, worms and human skulls, then you can download the Binding of Isaac via Steam right here. If you like Super Meat Boy, you'll probably gonna like this game too since they both were developed by the same indie developer, Edmund McMillen.
