Gearbox are known for making shit loads of DLCs to help extend the life span of their colourful shooter series. At a time when most games are no longer having any more DLCs, the Borderlands series keep on growing. Heck, the first Borderlands had 4 DLCs, which is unusual for a game. By the time the Claptrap's Robot Revolution DLC was launched, a lot of players were already complaining that Gearbox put too much effort on quantity over quality. Still, they purchased and played the DLC. After all, who doesn't want more stuff and their level cap raised? Nevertheless, while the main games was excellent, the DLCs were always far less.
You can say the same thing for Borderlands 2. The sequel was released almost exactly a year ago. Despite that, and also despite the previous DLCs were not living up to the expectations or as good as the core game itself (yeah, I'm pointing at Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt), another DLC is now on its way to add itself into the list. The fifth DLC!
The DLC comes in 2 packs: the first pack is called Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2: Digistruct Peak and the second one is called Headhunter Pack: T.K. Baha's Bloody Harvest. As to why they did not just make it as 2 separate DLCs, I'm not sure, neither do I care because I just wanna get my hands on it once it's released, muahaha..
But anyway, the first pack will raise your level cap to 72, so if you're already a level 61 player and already feeling discouraged to keep on playing, this pack will bring that spirit right back up. It will also come with a new map that gives you the chance to fight overpowered enemies for new kinds of loot and the ability to "over level" your game. I'm not sure what that means, though. This pack already arrived in stores early last month. You can get one for $5, but I haven't got the time to check it out yet.
While I do not know much about the first pack, I do have a lot of idea on what the second pack is about. T.K. Baha's Bloody Harvest will add some new quests, a miniboss fight and a 'real' boss fight. Also, enemies will drop a new kind of loot: candies! Supposed to be some kind of currency I guess, like Eridium. This pack sounds a lot like The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, right? Well, if you expect the pack to feature those typical Halloween-themed locations, then give yourself a pat. One of the locations is even named Haunted Hollow.
Let's see, what am I missing about the second pack? Ah, T.K. Baha! Ringing any bells, folks? If you've played the first game, you'd probably recognized T.K. as one of the characters you encountered there. The poor, blind dude had some fetch missions for you. One of them had something to do with seeds and another one had something to do punishing some skags or something. Pretty boring and straightforward.
His reward for you, however, was awesome: T.K.'s Wave, a polished greenish-blue shotgun that fires blue projectiles, which looked very "alien" as compared to other ordinary-looking guns in the game. Poor T.K. died early in the game. I can't recall who killed him and why, but his death was memorable because he was found hanging up-side down in his shack. Nevertheless, T.K. proved to play a role more important than I thought he did, because he came back as a living dead in The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned DLC. Now he's making another appearance, also as a living dead.
The bad guy in T.K. Baha's Bloody Harvest DLC isn't the dude himself though, in case that's what you're thinking, and that's what I thought as well. Instead, the bad guy here is a pumpkin-sort-of-monster known as Pumpkin Kingpin, or is it Jacquern O'Lantern? I'm not sure which, or if it's actually both. Anywho, T.K. wants you to put this bad guy to sleep, but you won't get to him straight away without getting a few things done first, of course.
If you just heard and need more info, then I guess it's better to start Googling now. Although I usually dig into games before I purchase them, I won't do so this time. It's nice to have surprises sometimes. But I sure as hell hope that this DLC won't surprise me by being the most mediocre so far.
